Giles County Christian Service Mission, Inc

The Giles County Christian Service Mission, Inc. is a non-profit, inter-denominational outreach ministry that has served the residents of Giles County for over fifty years.  Our goal is to assist families who have chronic needs due to low or fixed incomes and offer emergency assistance for families who have experienced the sudden loss of the sudden loss of employment or other crisis such as flooding or fire.

In 2022 the Giles County Christian Service Mission, along with our community partners, provided:

$56,000 in Emergency Assistance

$53,000 in Nutritional Assistance through the 512 Food Pantry

$41,000 in clothing, household items, and other needs through the Voucher Program

1,080 Senior Food Boxes for a total value of $54,000

234 children and adolescents with Christmas gifts through the Angel Tree ministry

In the spring of 2021, the Mission purchased and renovated an adjacent property, allowing for the creation the 512 Food Pantry.  This new space greatly expands the Mission’s efforts to eliminate food-insecurity in Giles County.  This addition has also allowed the Mission to transition into a client-choice model of food distribution.  Having the opportunity to choose their own food gives those seeking help a sense of dignity and control, limits waste (since they tend not to take food they won’t use) and allows them to tailor the assistance they receive to be the best possible fit for their own unique situation.

Our Thrift Store offers a wide variety of clothing, household items, and  furniture for sale to the general public.  We are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m.—2:00 p.m.  Sales from our Thrift store, grants, and gifts from generous individuals, churches, businesses, and service organizations provide funding for the Mission.

When anyone shops at the Thrift Store, all sales cycle directly back into the Mission for service and outreach to the Giles community.  Everyone can help by donating clothing or household items, shopping in our store, or by sharing your time as a volunteer.
