Every day in the New River Valley, families face challenges that can seem impossible to overcome. A parent struggles to keep the lights on. A child goes to school hungry. A family faces homelessness. An individual returning from incarceration works to rebuild a life. A senior or person with a disability struggles to make ends meet.

For more than 60 years, New River Community Action (NRCA) has been there with help, hope, and opportunity.

NRCA serves over 8,000 individuals each year across Radford City and the counties of Montgomery, Giles, Floyd, and Pulaski. We work alongside our community's most vulnerable residents, helping them overcome barriers, achieve stability, and build brighter futures.

When a family is facing eviction, we help them stay housed. When a child needs a strong start in life, we provide education, nutrition, and support. When someone is trying to rebuild after hardship, we offer guidance, resources, and encouragement. We believe every person deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Our mission is to promote and support the wellbeing and self-reliance of individuals, families, and communities.
