$40,000 Goal

Blue Mountain School's deepened commitment to outdoor learning brings our classrooms outdoors everyday, in all weather. We treasure our wooded classrooms, while we also rely on outdoor spaces closer to our buildings to shelter us.

We’ve depended on our decks for years. Our use has intensified significantly since 2020. Teachers and staff have worked diligently to maintain our outdoor classrooms, but the time has come to rebuild our decks adding roofs for shelter, and the ability to stand up to the demands of daily use by dozens of children.

Help us build new decks!

For Giving Tuesday, we're asking you to help us Deck the Walls at Blue Mountain School! We need your support to literally cover our decks and also cover the ongoing expenses needed for our existing infrastructure and operating costs!

We ask our friends, families, and community to share in our commitment to offering nature based, Contemplative Progressive education in Floyd by contributing to our End of Year Giving campaign. This year we need to raise $10,000 towards our operating costs--We need $30,000 to build new, covered decks--and WE NEED YOU!

We’re incredibly thankful by 40 years of relationships with the many community members who have participated as students, teachers, parents, grandparents, board members and kind, generous donors.

Please invite your friends and family to make a donation today!

In connection with our End of the Year Giving campaign, we are excited to share with the community an art exhibit entitled The Faces of Blue Mountain School at the Floyd Center for the Arts, December 11 - February 4.  Each of the students and staff at Blue Mountain School are currently working on mixed media art pieces for this exhibit, expressions of who we are individually, and collectively as a school.  Inspiring ourselves and students to examine themselves as unique individuals through multiple methods, aligns with our Mission and Vision as a Contemplative Progressive school, demonstrating self-reflection and awareness.

Our End of the Year Giving campaign will close with a reception for this exhibit, celebrating our students, our school, and our community, on Friday, January 21st. Please join us!

We are Blue Mountain School!

Blue Mountain School has served families for 40 years as a nature-based, Contemplative Progressive school founded on the importance of social-emotional learning, and place-based education.

Our Contemplative Progressive model is grounded in mindfulness, and aligned with Reggio Emilia philosophy.  We serve children in Early Childhood through Middle School with our nature based, constructivist model.

We cultivate environmental awareness and stewardship in our future citizens, weaving these important academics with core competencies. Along with our commitment to social justice and service learning, we educate the whole child, growing the change-makers that these times demand.
