Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia (BGCSWVA) enables all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. For more than 25 years, BGCSWVA has positively impacted the lives of approximately 20,000 young people. BGCSWVA is part of a nationwide affiliation of local autonomous organizations of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) that provides youth development activities during afterschool and summer programming in three youth outcome areas: academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.

BGCSWVA depends on local support to stay open and available to our families and currently operates eleven Club sites including TWO Clubs in Franklin County! Our Lee M. Waid Elementary and Rocky Mount Elementary School Clubs serve youth after school during the school year and in a full-day capacity during the summer months. In 2023, we served approximately 1,313 youth, many from low-income and single-parent households. Any child between the ages of 6 and 18 is eligible for membership in our organization. Club members in Franklin County do not pay a fee to attend. The most a family pays for membership across our organization is $15 per week and no child is turned away for inability to pay. All BGCSWVA programs build self-confidence and self-esteem to foster a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, and influence.
