This year we are celebrating 30-years in the community. We began as a “Free Clinic”, housed at the health department and staffed by all volunteers who donated their time after-hours. Since 1995, the clinic has grown exponentially and seen many changes! Partners such as the Wythe-Bland Foundation (WBF), Virginia Association of Free & Charitable Clinics, Virginia Health Care Foundation, RX Partnership, VTMHI, and Big Walker Dentistry as well as many local private donors, churches, businesses and other organizations have made it possible for BHMC to continue providing medical, pharmaceutical, and preventive health care services to a vulnerable population. 

Today, we employ full and part-time staff, own our building (thanks to the WBF), and are considered a "hybrid" clinic; we see patients  who are without health insurance, have Medicaid, Medicare or commercial insurance. As we celebrate this landmark anniversary, the Clinic looks forward with great anticipation toward the opportunities that lie ahead for growth and further ministry to those citizens of Wythe and Bland Counties who depend upon BHMC for their healthcare now, for another 30 years, and beyond.  

Now more than ever, BHMC needs YOUR support! During the pandemic, only 15% of BHMC patients were uninsured. This was due in part to the Medicaid renewal process being on hold. Since the process has returned to an annual renewal, many Medicaid patients are no longer eligible for Medicaid. 

• 30% of current BHMC patients are now uninsured. 
• Revenue dollars are down due to lower Medicaid reimbursement.
• More dollars are needed to provide healthcare services to uninsured patients.
