Family Resource Center

The Family Resource Center, Inc. (FRC) is a non-profit agency founded in 1983. This year we celebrate our 40th year of providing services to survivors in our community of Southwest Virginia. Our mission is to provide education, resources, and services to the community addressing the issues of domestic and sexual violence. FRC serves victims and secondary victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and neglect, elder abuse, stalking, human trafficking, teen dating violence, bullying, and related crimes. FRC is committed to fostering a community that does not tolerate domestic and sexual violence and child abuse and neglect, understands the dynamics of these issues, supports and facilitates community change, and is aware of available resources. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, confidential, and supportive environment for those who have experienced trauma. Services that are provided are designed to empower clients to engage in recovery and build life-long resiliency. 

For the past 40 years, FRC has been providing services to our local communities of Bland, Smyth, Wythe, Carroll, and Grayson counties and the City of Galax. Our main office is in the town of Wytheville, with satellite offices in Marion and Galax. We are able to provide services in other locations acceptable for the individual situation such as schools, libraries, courthouses, etc. to make services more accessible for those in our area. 

The fundamental services that our organization currently provides to crime victims in order to address their needs include: 24-hour on-call emergency services; crisis intervention; emergency shelter; trauma informed supportive care with individuals, groups, and families; specialized trauma assessment and therapy; Family Trauma Advocacy Program; legal/ court support and accompaniment in both criminal and civil matters; medical accompaniment in both criminal and civil matters; medical accompaniment for abuse related injuries/ PERK (Physical Evidence Recovery Kit) examinations; Lethality Assessment Protocol (LAP); mobile advocacy; and telehealth services.

FRC is launching a “40 for 40” campaign for the year. We are requesting donations of $40 (or more) to further the FRC’s mission. Your donations will go towards providing services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence in our community, and will ensure that the FRC can continue to help those in need.
