Live Work Eat Grow

Live, Work, Eat, Grow's mission is to cultivate vibrant communities in the New River Valley. 

We manage Millstone Kitchen a shared-use kitchen designed to launch and grow small food businesses and support a diversity of entrepreneurs. We also manage three community gardens including the Hale garden, the Wong Park garden and the Garrison garden at Cedar Hill.  

Over the past year we have:

Served 13,321 meals to low income, at-risk and elderly individuals through our Millstone Meals program 

Hosted 157 volunteers from 10 organizations, totaling 2,000+ volunteer hours

Hosted two weeks of summer camp for kids

Provided 109 garden plots for families to grow their own food year-round

Installed a native plant propagation center with the NRV Regional Commission

Supported 15 small businesses operating out of Millstone Kitchen

Next year, with your support, we plan to: 

- continue our meal program serving low income families and seniors

- engage kids and adults in hands-on learning activities

- begin site planning for another community garden in an unserved area of Blacksburg 

- offer start-up support to small business food entrepreneurs 

- install a walk in cooler to increase capacity to store donated produce and fresh meals
