New River Family Shelter Inc

New River Family Shelter (NRFS) offers information (including tenant/landlord rights and responsibilities) and referrals to anyone in a housing crisis. NRFS provides and/or accesses homeless prevention and diversion services to individuals and families (including those without children) and is a resource to other service providers assisting with housing needs. 

Homeless families with children in the New River Valley (NRV), not in imminent danger of domestic violence, are eligible for NRFS emergency shelter. This private, supportive environment allows the time and case management services provide the direction for families to work on barriers to finding permanent housing (employment, transportation, credit score etc.). NRFS has developed positive relationships with local landlords and realtors and those relationships benefit families in their search for permanent housing. 

Our goal is for families to move into permanent housing as quickly as possible and with the skills to confront future crises so they do not become homeless again.
