The Old Church Gallery is a cultural arts museum preserving the creative heritage of Floyd County with exhibits, programs, and collections of both physical objects and digitally-archived images, oral histories, and recordings.
To get a sense of the treasures we hold, please visit us at 110 Wilson Street in Floyd. We are open Fridays from 2:00 to 5:00 and Saturdays 10:00 to 1:00, April through December 16, 2023. In between visits, tour virtually through our website:
Old Church Gallery .
Over a hundred visitors enjoyed our June House Party with music, Brownie cameras, treats, and Roots With Wings oral history display. Get a taste of the fun by watching this program from Quentin Horn with Citizens Cooperative Television:
Old Church Gallery House Party .
Kindly Mirrors - The Photography of Richard "Dick" Shank & Gertrue Vest Shank has been a particularly well-received exhibit for the Gallery. In 2024, these prints will travel to
the Montgomery Museum of Art and History as well as to McConnell Library, Radford University.
Gallery volunteers shared Floyd County culture with expanding audiences in 2023. We contributed an exhibit for the "Living Traditions Festival" at the Floyd Center for the Arts. Our research and oral history efforts were recognized in a new book Engaging Appalachia and in the October 2023 issue of Early American Life.
