What organizations are eligible to use the GiveLocalNRV site?
Organizations classified by the IRS as a 501(c)3 or a unit of government (such as a library) that serve the New River Valley are eligible to participate in GiveLocalNRV. Private non-operating foundations are not eligible to participate in this event.
We ask that a minimum of 25% of your organization's services/programs serve the New River Valley. There is no fee to register. Only organizations that sign-up to participate in the 2025 giving day will be eligible for this year's grants and prizes.
The approval of organizations on this site and giving day participants is at the discretion of the Community Foundation of the New River Valley's board.
Did your organization previously participate in the giving day?
We ask that organizations sign up for the GiveLocalNRV Giving Day each year so we know who plans to actively participate. Only those that sign up for the 2025 event will be eligible for this year's grants and prizes.
Sign up to participate using the form at the bottom of this page. If your organization previously participated then your organization page should already be set up on the platform.
You will be prompted to log in or sign up for a Mightycause user account if you are a new admin for your organization, in order to access the registration form.
You will then be able to begin the form, you can select your organization (search by name or EIN) and complete the questions, then submit your registration.

If you cannot find your organization in the sign-up form below, you will need to get your organization set up on the Mightycause so you can accept funds raised. Mightycause support can help you get set up with an organization page under your fiscal sponsor's EIN number. To begin this process, scroll down to the registration form below and click "Can't find your organization? Create it now." OR you can directly email the Mightycause support team at support@mightycause.com. Please be sure to let them know you are looking to register to participate in GiveLocalNRV.
IMPORTANT: After your organization page is set up on Mightycause, you will need to return to this page to complete the sign up process below in order to participate in the GiveLocalNRV giving day.
What is Mightycause?
Mightycause partners with the CFNRV to host this online fundraising platform for the GiveLocalNRV giving day. Their team provides robust technical support for the site throughout the year and partners with the CFNRV team to offer informational webinars. All transactions on the givelocalnrv.org website are processed through Mightycause. Donors giving through this site will see that reflected on their credit/debit card statements as some version of the following: "MCF*GiveLocalNRV" or "Mightycause Foundation", or the name of the organization you gave to might be listed in the charge, such as "MCF*LiteracyNRV".
I've used Mightycause before but don’t remember my password. How can I retrieve a new one?
Please use the password reset link. Be sure to enter the email address you used to create your Mightycause.com account. Please note that the password reset email expires after 1 hour, so please check your spam folder if the email does not appear in your inbox.
I am a new admin for my organization.
Welcome! If you are a new admin filling out the registration form, by submitting the registration form you are also automatically requesting admin access to the organization page.
Mightycause Support reviews all admin requests and will follow up separately with you if additional information is required.
You will receive an email notification once your admin request is approved. After you are approved, you will see your organization listed in your dropdown user menu at the top right.
PLEASE NOTE: Admin approval emails are separate from registration approvals.
Please allow 2-3 business days for admin approval.

Mightycause support can assist you with either locating your organization page or they can help you get set up with an organization page under your fiscal sponsor's EIN number so you can accept funds raised.

Please be aware that Mightycause's terms and conditions prohibit use of the platform for donation giveaways/incentives or other sellable items in return for donating.
