I feel incredibly fortunate never to have experienced food insecurity myself. However, my eyes were opened to the realities of hunger and homelessness while attending Emory & Henry College, a service-oriented undergraduate program. During that time, I delivered meals to homebound individuals, led a related service club, and volunteered at both a food bank and a soup kitchen.
As an educator, I’ve seen firsthand how a child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive is directly tied to having their basic needs met — especially access to nutritious food.
I’ve been volunteering with Plenty! for over a decade in a variety of roles: cook, pantry prep assistant, farm hand, food waste retriever from Food Lion, and more. I've seen nearly every inch of this beloved nonprofit and deeply believe in its mission to serve our community.
Now, as Vice President of the Board, I support Plenty!’s work not only hands-on but also through regular meetings with the director and careful review of the organization's budget and operations.
Each board member, including myself, is personally contributing to Plenty!’s current donation drive — and I invite you to join us in this important mission.
If giving online is easiest, that’s wonderful. Prefer to donate by cash or check? I’m happy to collect it or you can mail it in — whatever works best for you. And if a financial gift isn’t possible right now, that’s completely okay. There are so many meaningful ways to support Plenty! by volunteering your time and talents.
Feel free to reach out — I’d love to share how you can get involved.
Thank you for taking the time to read and consider supporting this cause close to my heart. 💛
