The Pioneer Trail, starting from the historic home of the pioneer Phlegar family, will be the third project we have carried out to help Floyd-area families get healthy outdoor exercise by walking. The trail will extend more than a mile through woods and grassland near the Floyd Innovation Center. Your contribution will help purchase materials for a bird-watchers' shelter, benches, and interpretive signs that name and describe the plants and wildlife.
Over the past five years Partnership for Floyd, working with dozens of local individuals, businesses, and public officials, has planned and opened the Park-to-Library trail in the heart of town and the one-mile Dodd Creek Trail through the woods around the recreation park. Both trails are used regularly and further improvement is likely.
