For my birthday this year, I'm joining the Lansing Lady Paddlers as we raise awareness and funds for the New River Conservancy—protecting one of the oldest rivers in the world. I'm asking 25 friends to donate $10 each to reach my goal of $250.💙

Story: Last year, I asked for donations to support the River Warrior Documentary, a film that followed Rose Mountain Farmer Ann Rose, as she paddled 2,000 miles from Lansing to the Gulf of Mexico to raise awareness about water quality. A friend of a friend was producing the doc, and I was inspired by Ann’s story.
A few days later, Carolyn and I joined RiverGirl Fishing Company for their full-moon paddle. On the shuttle ride, we struck up a convo with the woman and her granddaughters sitting in front of us on the shuttle, only to realize, almost serendipitously, that it was Ann herself, preparing to begin her journey in a few weeks.
On the day she completed her incredible paddle, Ann returned home to find her town flooded by Hurricane Helene.
She’s joined this fundraiser to help restore the river, and I’m beyond excited to be joining her group. Please pitch in if you can.
