At Springhouse, we care about regenerative culture, and we know that to create a culture that brings people alive, education must be redesigned in ways that take care of life and provide opportunities for people to experience the vitality within and around them.

Our school for regenerative culture builders is a strong, local example of the life-giving culture we all deeply long for. We share our design principles globally, inspiring many around the world from their on-the-ground experience.

This year I...

- Led a coming-of-age program for young girls and their mothers focused on preparing for puberty and menstruation

- Taught a course on how our culture views death and put on a play exploring these themes (an old Appalachian Jack Tale: The Main Who Put Death in a Sack) and facilitated community dialogue on this topic

- Coordinated our Community Apprenticeship Program and connected our 34 students with elders and experts in the Floyd community

- Worked with a 15-year-old student to calculate Springhouse's annual carbon usage (108 tons of CO2 in the 2022-2023 school year) and planted 75 trees on our campus to offset around 70%

- Led Sacred Dance for teenagers and adults

- Taught a class on Permaculture and ecological design for our teenagers and facilitated a design process for the future of our campus

- Co-taught a class on herbalism and made several products for the school including smudge sticks, infused vinegars, tinctures, and infused honeys

- Led a Forestry and Conversation apprenticeship where we studied the Appalachian ecosystem and learned about forest succession, the importance of biodiversity, regenerative logging practices, soil fertility, and more. In this apprenticeship we also built a deer exclusion fence in Springhouse's woods and planted native woodland medicinals.

- Led running and high-intensity interval training for the teenagers

- Co-facilitated a year-long fellowship for adults focused on ecological design and being in beloved community

- Mentored 6 amazing individuals (teens and adults)

- Co-facilitated our Well Program, a place for adults to get honest with themselves and cultivate their innate wholeness

- Wrote several grants for the organization

- Facilitated our wholistic sexuality curriculum

- Much more!

This work at Springhouse means so much to me and I've committed my whole self to it.

Fundraising is an essential component to continuing our work - it accounts for almost half of our annual budget and in this June campaign our goal is $70,000. Will you help keep our organization going by giving to a learning community that awakens vitality and empowers people to courageously respond to the world’s emerging needs?

Thank you!
