My father, Lloyd Mathews, spent many hours at Wilderness Road Regional Museum. He was instrumental in the museum's opening in 1981, he served on the Board there, and he helped establish the museum's now extensive Archival Collection. He rescued boxes and boxes of historical records that had been slated for destruction. He also volunteered at the museum, leading tours until 2013. In this 10th year anniversary of my father's death, I'm asking you to help me remember Lloyd Mathews--his writing, his contributions to history, his surveying, his quirky wit. I'm asking you to donate $5 or $10 (or more if you want!) toward the museum's completing the restoration of its Carriage House. My father would love being memorialized in this way.

So why $5 or $10? Because many people can afford that amount, and those dollars add up. Every bit helps! Additionally, Community Foundation of the New River Valley is offering a grant of $1,500 to the medium-sized organization that has the most donors (Please note that a donor can be counted only ONCE. So even if you give $5 three times, you're still just one unique donor.)

I want to help the museum win this grant, and I want to help the museum meet its fundraising goal of $3600. I've set a goal of finding at least 102 donors--that's a lot, I know, but I would love a donor for every year since my father's birth. Thank you so much for reading. Thank you for supporting Wilderness Road Regional Museum. And thank you for helping me remember Lloyd!
