New update

Update posted 1 month ago

October 9, mouth of Indian Creek to Bluestone Dam
10 miles in cedar strip canoe I built for my parents 35 years ago.
miles to date - 137

I saw a mature and an immature bald eagle, some BIG fish jumping, and assessed access points along the way as part of our three state New River Water Trail project This is part of my mission to paddle the entire length of the New River in West Virginia. I'll complete the Hinton to Gauley Bridge sections in four days October 21-24. Stay tuned!

Throughout the year I'll be chronicalling my miles on the New River in West Virginia.  Some trips are part of my annual trash cleanups. Some are in support of a major New River film project.  And many will just be for fun, because I love the New River!

I'll cover every inch of the New in West Virginia, from the Virginia State line to Gauley Bridge, savoring the diverse ecosystems, full range of paddling difficulty, in all her glorious seasons.  You may see me in kayak, canoe, rafts large and small or the dory I built for 280 mile Grand Canyon trips that's just as well suited for the whitewater of the New River.

Come join me and/or cheer me on!
