This summer, I’m paddling for more than just adventure—I’m paddling to raise funds and awareness for the New River. Having already completed 150 miles of this beautiful waterway, my goal is to paddle the entire river over the next three years. This summer, I’ll be exploring some new-to-me stretches in Virginia and revisiting my favorite sections in North Carolina.
I’d love for you to join me—whether that’s for a day on the water or by supporting my journey.
The New River Expedition is a paddling adventure and peer-to-peer fundraising event celebrating the Conservancy’s 50th Anniversary. We're challenging paddlers to complete 50 miles on the New River this year—and those who do will earn a special edition paddle medallion.
You can paddle all 50 miles at once or break it up into sections. You can go solo or create a team where your mileage adds up collectively (for example, five paddlers doing 10 miles each = 50 miles total). It’s flexible, fun, and all for a good cause.
Fundraising is simple—think old-school walk-a-thon style! You can ask friends and family to sponsor each mile you paddle or your entire journey. For example, if someone pledges $2 per mile and you paddle 50 miles, that’s a $100 donation to protect the river we love.
Ready to hit the water? Let’s paddle with purpose.
