The Wythe County United Legacy Fund was established in 2020 by the Board of Directors of the United Way of Wythe County to benefit charitable organizations working to meet the county's critical needs. Following decades of providing financial support to partner agencies, the United Way of Wythe County faced ongoing challenges to it model that made continuing its work as an independent agency untenable. To ensure that its partner agencies would continue to receive support, United Way of Wythe County established a donor-advised endowment with the Community Foundation of the New River Valley (CFNRV). The CFNRV will invest and grow the endowment, receive and acknowledge all donations, and work together with an advisory team in Wythe to award grants annually. Beyond these grants, Wythe County nonprofits will also be able to access the CFNRV's workshops and training programs, participate in the Annual Online Giving Day, and apply for grants from other endowed funds managed by the CFNRV.
