MY SPRINGHOUSE STORY

Hello, my name is Pedro Perez Mendez. I'm 16 years old. I'm from Chiapas, Mexico. Today I'll talk about why Springhouse is important to me. On my first day at Springhouse, I felt a little strange because I didn't know anyone. But by the second day, I felt a little more secure and calm. I liked it, and that's why I switched to Springhouse. They teach things we want to learn, and they teach you much better because there's diversity. At Springhouse, we write less and work more on the computer, in a more creative way. The community helps each other to support each other and learn, just as we Spanish speakers teach us to speak English. And since they speak English and want to learn Spanish, we help them too. And I'm grateful to the entire school that helps us.

Springhouse envisions a world where all life thrives. Through our intergenerational school and community print shop, we are committed to creating a culture that takes care of life, one person and one community at a time. At large, the culture we live in does not care for vulnerability. Now more than ever, we need places to practice taking better care of vulnerability and living in ways that are in greater alignment with life. 

Springhouse is a place for anyone who wants to practice living in ways that take better care of life. Though their programs have fees, Springhouse is committed to accessibility – no one is turned away for financial reasons.

Springhouse imagina un mundo donde toda la vida prospera. A través de su escuela intergeneracional y su imprenta comunitaria, Springhouse se compromete a crear una cultura que cuida la vida de una persona y de una comunidad a la vez. En general, la cultura en la que vivimos no se preocupa por la vulnerabilidad. Ahora más que nunca, creo que necesitamos espacios donde practicar cómo cuidar mejor la vulnerabilidad y vivir de maneras más alineadas con la vida.

Springhouse es un lugar para cualquiera que desee practicar cómo vivir de maneras que cuiden mejor la vida. Aunque sus programas tienen costo, Springhouse está comprometido con la accesibilidad: nadie es rechazado por razones financieras.
