Hi Dancers! Remember this? (password: sas)

Hello Fellow Semester at Sea Spring 2010 Dancers!

Jenny Finn and Sarah Pollock here, writing to celebrate and share the dance.

As you know, fifteen years ago, a small group of SAS students began doing something different. They would gather in the hall, take off their shoes, and dance. Not a dance party or booty-shaking kind of dance, but a dance that connected them to their bodies, to each other, and to the sacred. And oh, how that dance group grew.

After each port, in every country we visited, more people came to dance, to move through it all.

Jenny recalls leaving the ship in Fort Lauderdale when a student came up to her and said: "I traveled around the world and visited so many amazing places, but the most amazing place I visited on this voyage was the journey I took within myself on the dance floor."

This dance practice brings us home, no matter where we are in the world.

At Springhouse, an intergenerational learning community (where Jenny and Sarah work), we learn, eat, sing, and dance together to create a new culture, one that takes care of life.

We dance with high school students every week. We also dance as adults with our wider community to reconnect with each other, ourselves, and the sacred.

Springhouse is in the middle of our annual fundraiser, and we’ve set a bold goal: $160,000. We're reaching out to our beloved SAS dancing community to help us keep the dance alive by raising $1,500.

Today, we invite you to do three things:

  1. Join our newsletter list. We’re planning dance retreats and would love to see you there.
You are part of our community. Come join the dance.

  2. We are organizing another online 15 Year Reunion Dance. Please fill out this
google form to receive information and a link to the dance event once we have a date/time.

  3. Please donate to our fundraiser today to support keeping the dance alive!

With gratitude, feet, and breath,

 Jenny and Sarah

Building Beloved Community for 11 Years in Floyd County and Beyond

Springhouse envisions a world where all life thrives. Through our intergenerational school and community print shop, we are committed to creating a culture that takes care of life, one person and one community at a time. At large, the culture we live in does not care for vulnerability. Now more than ever, we need places to practice taking better care of vulnerability and living in ways that are in greater alignment with life.

Springhouse is a place for anyone who wants to practice living in ways that take better care of life. Though their programs have fees, Springhouse is committed to accessibility – no one is turned away for financial reasons.

This work will take generations. Your gift allows Springhouse to continue offering accessible and equitable programs for all.
