The Women’s Studies Club at Radford University is fundraising to recognize Drs. Mary Ferrari and Moira Baker for lifetime achievement awards for their contributions to Women's and Gender Studies. 

Dr. Mary Ferrari was a History professor at Radford University for 29 years and retired in 2021. She was involved in the Women’s and Gender Studies (formerly known as the Women’s Studies) since 1998 and served as the Interim Director in 2001-2002 & 2013-2014 and served as a member of the advising committee throughout her tenure at Radford. Dr. Ferrari’s research focused on Mary Draper Ingles and women artisans in Charleston, SC during the American Revolution.   

 Dr. Moira Baker was an English professor at Radford University for 35 years and retired in 2021. She was involved in the Women’s and Gender Studies (formerly known as the Women’s Studies) program since the brainstorming stage of the program in 1998 and its creation in 1999. She taught the first class offered in the curriculum in Spring 2000 and served as the Director of the program for 13 years. She served as an advocate for social justice and women’s rights both at Radford University and beyond and is still actively involved in the program by hosting workshops during Women’s History Month and marching for women’s rights.
