MY SPRINGHOUSE STORY

Gooday dear reader, thank you for reading my story. Springhouse is incredible and has changed my life. I find what Springhouse teaches, and how Springhouse teaches, so much more beneficial than most of my previous educational experiences. I cannot remember a time I have been taught so much about how to connect with the world and myself. And learning about the injustices and conflicts of the world in school helps us in our mission to create a world where all life thrives.

There are many examples of how this community encourages, inspires, and helps me. The 20th-century history class I was a part of opened my eyes to many different perspectives on events that I had previously been taught about from only one perspective. Whole-class discussions are when all the students and teachers in a class talk about the material and content we learned. We have these often, and it is an important and enjoyable experience to hear my classmates’ perspectives on things.

The close and friendly community at Springhouse cares for me, and I care for all the people in it. The experience of having a mentor is a new and unique one for me. The benefits of having an adult besides my parents to talk to about troubling matters are incredible. Having a mentor is also having a friend and a comrade, who is not only there for troubling matters but also friend-like support. Mentors also offer a more direct response to matters within the school itself, like conflict.

At Springhouse we regularly engage in fun and enjoyable activities, like dance! Every Friday morning the, highschool students and facilitators dance together. This creates a connection to both myself and others that I have never experienced before. Our print shop, Sourced Press, is another way to tell our mission and vision to the world, as well as being a resourceful and fun way to learn!

Springhouse means a lot to me, and I truly believe that by supporting us, you are assisting in the creation of a world where all life thrives.

Building Beloved Community for 11 Years in Floyd County and Beyond

Springhouse envisions a world where all life thrives. Through our intergenerational school and community print shop, we are committed to creating a culture that takes care of life, one person and one community at a time. At large, the culture we live in does not care for vulnerability. Now more than ever, we need places to practice taking better care of vulnerability and living in ways that are in greater alignment with life.

Springhouse is a place for anyone who wants to practice living in ways that take better care of life. Though their programs have fees, Springhouse is committed to accessibility – no one is turned away for financial reasons.

This work will take generations. Your gift allows Springhouse to continue offering accessible and equitable programs for all.
