Team Sapphire (Kindergarten): Stronger Together

Our Sapphire class knows that friends help friends! This fall, they're helping each other explore primary colors through pipette work and color blending, tracing magnatiles to create houses and stars, and working on Number Study by shaping numbers with playdough and tracing them on friends' backs. Whether they're observing an ant colony relocating eggs during their Junior Biologist field study, listening on the edge of their seats to chapter books like Stuart Little, or spending over 30 minutes in the Tinkering Workshop creating echo machines and tiny creature playgrounds, our students love to tinker together and explore the outdoors as part of their learning.

From painting patty pan squash with primary colors and wondering how big pumpkins can actually get, to searching the woods for the smallest specimens they can find during Junior "Microbiology" and making observational drawings through magnifying glasses, these friends are discovering that when we all work together, we can accomplish amazing things. The Sapphires have even taken initiative to address food insecurity in our community by organizing a school-wide food drive—showing that small people can make a big difference when working together.

Through Neighbors Helping Neighbors, our Sapphire class is supporting efforts to expand scholarship opportunities so more families can access our school's unique educational environment. Our young learners are strong believers in equity and justice, and they understand that every child deserves the chance to explore, discover, and grow alongside caring classmates in a nurturing learning community where everyone has what they need to thrive.
