A Message from BCC Director Amy Hill for GiveLocalNRV
Thank you all so much for your contributions to the BCC during the 2021 GiveLocalNRV! We wanted to share a video from our wonderful Director Amy Hill on the ways you can support the choristers and a sneak peek on upcoming Fall performances! Check out the video at the top of the page for more info!
Support the Blacksburg Children's Chorale!
The Blacksburg Children's Chorale was established in 2006 as part of the Blacksburg Master Chorale's educational outreach to support the need for a children’s choir in the community to provide young people with a quality after-school program of choral repertoire, singing and performance.
The BCC is excited to collaborate on a new work in 2022 by the BMC Music Director Dr. Dwight Bigler: Mosaic for Earth. While we were supposed to premiere this new work at the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech this spring, we're looking to 2022 to perform this special work. Mosaic for Earth will be premiered in March 2022, but that's not all! We'll also be presenting this new work on tour in Washington, D.C. and making a recording.
YOU can be a part of supporting the youth choristers in the NRV by participating in Give Local NRV 2021. Your gift will help us pay for scholarships, uniforms, and promotional materials to show off our amazing singers.
Check out our Facebook page and our YouTube channel for up to date info on our current work, including our Spring 2021 performance of True Light by Keith Hampton.
We have continued to thrive during the pandemic season by moving all of our performances to YouTube! After weekly, remote, collaborative rehearsals, each singer records themselves at home and submits their individual video, which we combine into a group performance.
Check out the BCC Theme Song we put together in one of our Zoom rehearsals just this spring!
A kick-off to each new year begins with a themed camp and has continued each year to bring choristers together to socialize and begin developing choral repertoire and chorale skills. Short-term workshops and camps have also been organized for working on choreography and musicals during the month of February, bringing the choristers together for more social interaction, learning, and fun.
