Due to COVID-19, schools across our state and the country adapted to unexpected changes in the 2019-2020 school year. The focus for many was on pushing forward in whatever way possible, even though we are in the middle of the most impactful public health and economic emergency in generations. Blue Mountain School made a different choice: to discontinue the collection of tuition and make a significant shift in learning and engagement expectations during this time, in direct response to the needs expressed by our school community.  This gift to our families meant a significant disruption to our budgeted revenue stream for at least 6 months, and now as we look forward, we need help in raising the funds needed to reopen in the Fall of 2020. We are asking our families, friends, and community members to join us in revitalizing our school with a donation during Give Local!

Help us preserve our campus

Our beautiful campus is in need of some major building maintenance. Our main building needs a new roof, our early childhood mudroom needs siding, and our plumbing and bathrooms in the main building need repairs and updating, including adding more sinks for increased hand-washing. We also need to build a simple outdoor structure to allow in -person instruction to take place outdoors as much as possible. We have made many improvements to our campus over the years, but as the buildings age and our usage changes, we must address these pressing issues.  We have a unique opportunity to safely address them with the campus being closed due to COVID-19.

Help Our Program Evolve

During this difficult time of pause, our staff and teachers have been working hard: brainstorming exciting, new & creative ways to offer programming for the late summer and fall that is safe and responsive to our community's needs.  Our board, staff, and teachers have come together, focusing on reworking our strategic plan and reshaping our curriculum. We are all spending time reflecting on how this experience might influence our program and structure for the coming school years, and how we can anticipate similar disruptions in the future.  We have a unique opportunity now to be proactive in our planning, as we look toward the time when we can open again: welcoming our families back with improved facilities and thoughtful new ways of sharing this beautiful space together.

Donate on June 24th and help us spread the word about Give Local!
