The Community Foundation's Fund for the NRV provides support for both immediate and long-term initiatives that CONNECT individuals and organizations working toward common goals, INSPIRE innovative solutions that address the root causes of our community’s most pressing needs, and EMPOWER nonprofit organizations to become leaders in overcoming community challenges of all kinds.

To date, the Fund for the NRV has focused on initiatives in early childhood education and development, aging, food assistance, and nonprofit leadership development.

Through First Steps, dozens of educators, health and human service providers, business, and elected leaders work together to expand access to affordable, high-quality childcare and support services for families. Among its many programs, First Steps recognizes leaders in this sector through the Early Childhood Champion Awards and advocates for local, state, and federal support for early childhood programs.

Aging in Community draws together residents, service providers, government officials and developers to encourage lifespan friendly homes, neighborhoods and services. Partners created the Aging in Place workbook and workshop, which helps individuals plan for their housing, health, transportation, financial, and social needs as they age.

NRV Thrive is a collaborative of food assistance programs working to increase access to fresh foods and reduce food waste. Thrive publishes the NRV Food Assistance Directory, supports coordination among community gardens, and facilitates partnerships between food suppliers and pantries.

The Nonprofit Leadership Institute includes several popular and long-standing CFNRV programs that build the capacity of nonprofit leaders to pursue their missions. These include the monthly Third Thursday Society, the Nonprofit Accelerator, and the GiveLocalNRV online giving platform that has helped NRV agencies raise $2.1 million since 2014.
