Jim Lawrence loves the YMCA at VT

INVEST IN THE NEXT 150 YEARS. 

My involvement with the YMCA at Virginia Tech began in 1971, my senior year at Tech, when I volunteered in a Y tutoring program for children at an African American community center. After various jobs and adventures hither and yon, I reconnected with the Y when I joined the Board of Directors in 1998. After my tenure, I continued to volunteer my carpentry and mechanical skills around the various Y facilities. I rejoined the Y Board in 2014 and am currently serving as Board Treasurer. I also continue to volunteer, helping with facility upkeep and renovations, assisting with various Y projects and programs, and working with our student members to accomplish their goals  I guess you could call me a Y Guy :-)  I am so thankful to have this involvement and activity in my retirement years, and I want to see this organization persist and thrive and continue to offer opportunities for individuals young and old to enrich the lives of their neighbors and themselves through service and leadership.
