At The June Bug Center, that’s all it takes to spark a lifetime of confidence, creativity, and connection.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are proud to provide accessible, high-quality music, performing arts, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) education to students in the New River Valley. Through afterschool programs, private lessons, theatre productions, and summer camps, we create a place where young people can learn, grow, and belong.

We serve over 150 students each week during the school year, offering them not only instruction but also a snack, a safe space, and a supportive community. With 14 different classes offered throughout the school year and 21 summer camps in 2025 alone, we remain committed to making the arts and STEAM education affordable for all families—regardless of income.

Our sliding scale tuition and scholarship programs ensure that no child is ever turned away due to financial hardship.

But the reality is: small arts organizations like ours are feeling the effects of reduced public arts funding. With ongoing cuts to national support for the arts, especially through the National Endowment for the Arts, we rely more than ever on our local community to help us keep our programs running, our teachers supported, and our doors open to every child who walks through them.
