Springhouse is awakening vitality through education that brings out the life in us all! They are unique as they’re an on-the-ground example of holistic, eco-centric, place-based learning. Springhouse is not just an idea, they are a learning community that is evidence of what’s possible when life is at the center.

Now nationally and internationally recognized as a leader in regenerative educational design, Springhouse inspires others who are looking to redesign education from the roots up in ways that foster life.

#SpringhouseStories give hope and encourage many to deepen their connection to life.  I hope my story inspires you!

Once upon a time, there was
a young woman who didn’t know she was whole. She thought somehow she was broken and tried to fill her brokenness in a variety of ways. One way was her 9 to 5 and a 401k. The nice furniture and the garden box. There was the fiance with a steady job. There was a master's program in the future to get her the “best degree” for a career.

Every day
she woke up and tried to become whole, but the truth was, she was afraid.

One day
she picked up the phone and called her old friend and mentor, Jenny Finn. She had danced with Jenny ten years ago on a ship sailing around the world. She remembered dancing. She remembered how alive she felt. There on the phone, Jenny invited her to join the dance again, this time with teenagers in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

So she packed up her life and moved to Floyd for a year-long program at Springhouse called the Well. There, with the love of the community, she slowly unfurled and untangled from a life of fear.

Because of that,
she made radical changes that brought her to life. She mentored young ones and danced daily. She ended her steady job and unhealthy relationship and committed to tending to her fear in a new way. She took a leap and started working at Springhouse, moving across the country.

Here now as the Director of Development at Springhouse, she has the opportunity to truly embody the meaning of development. The root word of develop is to unfold or unfurl.

Every day she bears witness to the unfolding and unfurling of teens and adults at Springhouse.

Every day she sees teens and adults awaken to the vitality within themselves and others.

And every day she reminds herself she is already whole.

This is the time to connect and give to a learning community that awakens vitality and empowers people to courageously respond to the world’s emerging needs. GIVE TODAY!
