Why are we Fundraising for Mountain Valor... because the work they do is profoundly important to our veterans. And, we're incredibly proud of our sister and sister-in-law, retired Navy Sr. Command Chief, Katt Whittenberger, for starting this nonprofit. We help, we attend, we support in all the ways that we can because our veterans deserve and I trust Katt and the dozens of veterans and friends in Floyd, VA that are helping her help veterans.
We're raising money for Mountain Valor because they’re doing the work that should’ve been done long ago — making sure rural veterans and their families don’t fall through the cracks.
In less than a year, Mountain Valor has helped more than 750 veterans across Southwest Virginia — connecting them to benefits, healthcare, housing help, and critical resources that would otherwise be out of reach.
One of their biggest events, Mountain Valor Fest, brought over 130 veterans together with local, state, and national resources in one place — plus food trucks, music, and community connection. It’s more than a festival; it’s a lifeline. And they’re trying to get 700 veterans and their families to attend this year (mtnvalor.org/fest). We attended, and they achieved their goals beyond their imagination.
Whether it's helping a 75-year-old widow understand survivor benefits or making sure a Gulf War vet can finally get their VA claim processed, this nonprofit is boots-on-the-ground, and they get it done.
Every dollar raised helps with outreach, events, and printing life-saving resource guides. Even $25 gets a full outreach packet into the hands of 5 veterans or their family members.
Help us support their GiveLocal campaign and reach even more veterans this year.
How you can help:
📘 $25 means 5 caregivers walk away with a guide to help their veteran understand the benefits they need in this phase of life
❤️ $50 covers fuel to take an elderly veteran to their first benefits appointment
🌄 $500 covers a full community outreach event to an underserved rural Virginia community — and connects dozens of veterans to real help
Help me raise $500 for our heroes by June 26th!
Donate today — and if you can’t give, please share this page. Every bit of support helps Mountain Valor continue showing up for those who served.
I know with your support they will continue to help thousands of veterans and their families.
Thanks much, Amy & Tom Whittenberger, Jr.
