Springhouse is awakening vitality through education that brings out the life in us all! They are unique as they’re an on-the-ground example of holistic, eco-centric, place-based learning. Springhouse is not just an idea, they are a learning community that is evidence of what’s possible when life is at the center.
Now nationally and internationally recognized as a leader in regenerative educational design, Springhouse inspires others who are looking to redesign education from the roots up in ways that foster life.
#SpringhouseStories give hope and encourage many to deepen their connection to life. I hope my story inspires you!
I remember that, for the longest time, I was bored. The only thing I learned at the public school was how to get “good” grades. There was an easy method to make straight A’s or pass the next test. The only interest I had was getting into a good college, and after that I had no idea where my life was going. All I wanted was the standard “American Dream.”
At some point, I decided that I had had enough of the same thing everyday. I wanted to learn skills rather than curriculum, so I came to Springhouse. Here, I learned leadership and public speaking. I learned connection, and how to work in a group. Here, I evolved in a way that I never would’ve at the public school.
What brings me alive most at Springhouse is the community. Believe me when I say I tried really hard not to connect with anyone at first. After being in quarantine for so long, it felt easier to not have to talk to anyone or try to make friends. But by the end of the year, after so many experiences, after the three day Experience Week Trip, I couldn’t help but connect with my classmates. I did a lot of work on a outdoor classroom with Elliot and Porter; I spent 2 hours on the water talking with Jarrah about girls; I tackled crazy rapids with Sofie, Nyo, and Osheana. I even became closer to my little brother Oliver in the process! I was forced out of my comfort zone and shoved into a new one filled with people that I can now consider friends. The community here at Springhouse is filled with vitality and love and I hope it can continue this way for years to come.
This is the time to connect and give to a learning community that awakens vitality and empowers people to courageously respond to the world’s emerging needs. GIVE TODAY!
