Help Dawn empower teens through horses

Havenwood Equestrian Center exists because I believe one caring mentor can change the course of a young person’s life.

My father grew up in a poor family with no history of education beyond high school—and in some cases not even beyond eighth grade. As a teenager, he was mentored by the  a friend from church and his father, who was a dentist. They helped my dad see possibilities for his future that he had never imagined. Despite being told by some that someone from his background could never become a dentist, my dad worked hard, went to dental school, and built a life that changed the future of our entire family.

I’ve never forgotten that story.

Through Havenwood, I hope to provide that same kind of encouragement and opportunity for local teens. Horses are the hook, but the real goal is helping young people discover confidence, responsibility, perseverance, and belief in their own potential. I want them to see that their circumstances today do not have to define their future.
