Juan Pablo Cubur is Tending the Spring

At Springhouse we practice ways to contribute to the world’s flourishing—from the individual level to the collective community—through singing, dancing, meditating, feeling, caring, and protecting, among many other practices in community.  

This past year has been a time of profound learning alongside my family and community—filled with both incredible moments and periods of uncertainty. Yet, I know that despite the adversities, Springhouse makes it possible to see within the darkness and to *be* the light that the world needs today.

My son Daragh and his friend Aurora (the daughter of my colleagues, Sarah and Ian) spend their days here on this land and experience how it transforms into a gateway to the universe. Together, they explore, live, and feel the wind on their faces atop these mountains; they feel the water of the stream flowing over their feet; they watch and feel the warmth of a campfire—singing songs in the winter—and experience the earth with every one of their senses, right here on our land.

The earth is our greatest teacher; watching them learn from it daily serves as a clear example of what the world needs—and of what this community is striving to achieve. 

As we expand into cultivating the land and growing food, I'm excited to continue honoring, protecting, and learning from the earth alongside our intergenerational community. Using regenerative, ancestral, and sustainable techniques, we'll foster a more intimate connection with the earth within a community that cares deeply about all life thriving. 

Springhouse remains an important pillar in my life that continues to align with my principles and values, and I want the spring to keep flowing—one that will help many generations in the future.

This June, Springhouse is raising $120,000 to sustain the staff, the land, and the practices that keep this community alive, and to support what's next, including working with the land and creativity to grow food and make art, attuning to the seasons year round.
