Fresh Fruits

Our Feeding Children Summer Program is a critical extension of the Pantry’s long-standing mission to support low-income families in Blacksburg and McCoy. During the summer months, demand for food assistance rises sharply as families must replace breakfasts and lunches normally provided through school programs. The money that we receive from GiveLocalNRV campaign will allow the Pantry to expand food access specifically for children, providing nutritious, kid-friendly meals and staples that support healthy growth, learning, and well-being throughout the summer.

One way to improve the nutritional value of the summer food bag is with to include fresh fruit and vegetables. The funds raised from this campaign will go toward the purchase of fruit to supplement vegetables provided by local growers and gardeners.
